is a highly skilled business planner and financial modeller, with a
degree in physics and mathematics, a PhD in astrophysics and nearly 27
years’ experience of the energy industry. He joined the CEGB, later
National Power and had a wide range of roles including: power station
operation; power system capacity and system planning; power system
economics; business strategy and planning; financial planning; liaising
with credit rating agencies, banks and regulators; business
and financial modelling; model auditing; economic and financial
appraisal; project finance; financial and statistical analysis; project
valuation and appraisal. As Senior Manager in the Project Finance
Group, he was responsible for the project finance input to all projects
in Pakistan, Turkey, Middle East, Southern Africa, Kazakhstan and
Trinidad and, later, for evaluation of all modelling work for overseas
power projects. He set up a consultancy in 1999 and has worked with
large and small development companies, banks and regulators on a range
of matters including business planning, electricity system economics,
electricity market assessment, business analysis, project finance,
assessment of renewable energy sources and waste management. |  |
