Bernard
is an electrical engineer with 40 years’ hands-on operational and
management experience across a wide range of organisations in the UK,
the Middle East, the Far East and Africa. He finished a student
engineer apprenticeship with MANWEB and moved to Swaziland Electricity
Board as Planning Engineer before going to African Explosive &
Chemicals Industry as Lead Electrical Engineer. He returned to the UK
and, after a spell on petrochem design, joined Kennedy & Donkin and
became their representative in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, where he was
involved in power system physical and financial planning, contract
management on power distribution, transmission & generation work.
He also worked for Hyundai as a Technical Advisor on major power
projects. He returned to the UK as Senior Electrical Engineer with
McLellan & Partners, followed by an appointment with Foster
Wheeler. He left to join Brown & Root as Project Engineer for a
power plant in the Sahara desert. He moved to BOC Gases as Electrical
& Instrumentation Engineering Manager for Europe where he was the
design authority and managed the operation of very large industrial
installations. He then set up his own consultancy, working for a number
of his previous and new clients across the Far East. On his return to
the UK he joined Wessex Water as Senior Electrical Engineer before, in
2007, going back to work for his old consultancy.
